to Send Team to Olympics Several members of our staff
have recently qualified for competition in the 2002 Olympics
in Salt Lake City. Groundskeeper Chris Schram will be
anchoring the men's fencing squad. Chris is a late comer to
fencing but has excelled at corner posts and gates.
Assistant manager Donna Barker will be competing in the
sheep tipping trials. Donna has attended the last two
Olympics as a team alternate and holds the current US record
for number of sheep tipped in a 24 hour period. Chef's
Seminar Planned If you are a student of hot
cuisine be sure to reserve your seat for the Langlois Master
Chef's Seminar later this fall. Our renowned artiste of the
kitchen, Emeril P'tomaine will be hosting world recognized
fodderist Hedda Lettuce and rotisserie expert Welldon
Rumproast for a weekend of classes and discussions. Topics

Excavation Still in Progress We are making headway on the
new sewage treatment facility at ECF despite the continuing
archeological work on the site. U of O students have spent
the summer finishing up removal of a wide variety of
coproliferous artifacts. NOTE: Will the patron who
removed several white porcelain bowls from the vicinity of
the dig site please return them to the plumbing
department? Burning
Man Fest & Art Extravaganza The ECF Burning Man Fest was
inaugurated this summer when visitor Blaze Garrison stepped
too close to the barbecue at our annual juried art show.
Many guests believed Blaze was a performance art entry and
voted him an honorable mention in the sculpture
category. Of the two remaining entries
one, named Millennial Disco Ball, received second place. No
first place prize was awarded. Mt Fmang
1K Endurance Run Sign up now to participate
in the annual "Blackberry Challenge" cross-country field
event held on the slopes of lovely Mt Fmang. Lance
Thornberry, last season's winner will be returning in an
attempt to once again shred the competition. Runners will leave the
starting gate at 9 am October 1st and are expected to wear
protective clothing and provide their own first aid. The top
three survivors will be eligible for the Gorse Marathon
taking place in Bandon in February. Fog
Fest Canceled The Annual Oregon Coast Fog
Fest was not held this year due to poor
visibility. Mole
Derby Announced A catch and non-release
field day for novice mole hunters will be held in our sunken
garden on October 13th. The event is open to all children 12
and under with prizes given for largest, meanest and
sneakiest moles caught. Kids are invited to enter and "Come
haul in a big one!" Entrants must provide their
own tackle. Class A explosives not allowed.
